GUIDELINES FOR OBTAINING Science DEMO BOXES

If you plan to request the use of Science Demo Boxes, please thoroughly read the following material concerning this program. Adherence to these guidelines will enable the Center for Science and Environmental Education (CSEE) to better serve teachers in the Mississippi Delta. It will also insure that you receive the Science Demo Boxes in a timely fashion.

  1. Each Science Demo Box is usually provided to a teacher for a two-week loan period. The Science Demo Box Reservation Form requests that you supply us with the beginning and ending dates of use with your students. Once you begin using the Science Demo Box, if more time is needed to complete your unit of instruction please contact the CSEE by phone or by e-mail to request a loan period extension. The request for an extension will be granted if that particular demo box has not already been scheduled for use by another teacher during the dates covered by the extension request

  2. request a Science Demo Box please complete the Science Demo Boxes Reservation Form and e-mail, mail or fax it to the CSEE at least TWO WEEKS prior to the earliest date that you plan to use the kit. This will insure that there is sufficient shipping time for the demo box to arrive at your school.
  3. A Science Demo Box focuses on one biological concept, e.g., photosynthesis, cellular respiration, osmosis, etc. It includes five demonstrations that pertain to the concept. Every demo box contains all the materials needed to conduct the five demonstrations for all of your classes. We also include sufficient materials for you to practice each demonstration before you use it in class. To keep expenses as low as possible, we usually do not provide items that are already present in most classrooms. These items include scissors, glue, crayons, tape, etc.
  4. The Science Demo Boxes that you receive will contain an inventory list indicating those items packed by the CSEE staff. Each demo has a separate materials section on the inventory list. Please check the inventory list before you begin the unit and report any missing items to the CSEE by phone, fax, or e-mail. Any missing items will be sent to you as soon as possible.
  5. ter completion of the demos, return all non-consumable materials and any unused consumable materials to the Science Demo Box. A checklist of all materials that should be returned to the CSEE will be enclosed in the Science Demo Box. Please use the checklist to insure that the proper materials are returned.
  6. Any damaged non-consumable items must be reported to the CSEE by phone, fax, or e-mail. A replacement fee may be charged based on the value of the item damaged and the condition of the item before it was shipped to your school
  7. After the materials are placed in the Science Demo Box for return, contact the CSEE by phone or by e-mail to arrange for a pick-up date and time. On the date that the Science Demo Box is to be picked up please leave it in the school office so that a representative from CSEE can have easy access to it.
